Veggies and Treats for the day...

After making a nice and healthy meal today, I treated myself to some homemade chocolate chip scones (nuggets) and a few cups of Irish Whiskey (non-alcoholic) Cream Tea.

Fusion Green and White Tea from STASH - Trying out the tea bags once again.

My current Tea of choice is by STASH - Fusion Green and White Tea. For the past year, I've been either enjoying cups of tea in a tea store, or purchasing the tea (loose leaf) and making my own at home.

Well after my local tea store closed, I've been searching sites on new teas to try. As much as I love Tea.......Tea can be expensive. So I've decided to go back to purchasing teas in the grocery stores and came across STASH. See my comments below:

I did a tea review at the STASH site, and I cut and paste it into my blog to share here as well. If you haven't tried STASH, I highly recommend it. http://www.stashtea.com/default.aspx

I had gotten away from tea in a tea bag, but when I was in the store and saw that Stash had a green and white tea fusion, I thought I had to try it. I'm glad I did. I am now drinking throughout the day. I first steep it hot, then pour it over ice and sip and drink it all through the day at work and even in the evenings. I love the taste, and now look forward to purchasing the loose leaf to try it out as well.

Thanks

= Here's some information about the Green and White Tea =

Stash Fusion Green and White Tea

For our Fusion Tea we begin with Mutan White (or White Peony) which is made from the leaves of the "Dai Bai" or "Big White" bush and mixed with buds from the "Shui Hsien" or "Water Sprite" tea plant. The leaves have silver tips and are predominantly greenish-brown in color and very flat. The buds are lustrous, soft and silvery. Its name, a literal translation from the Chinese, probably comes from the very pale color of its liquor.

We then blend this White tea with Sencha Green tea from Japan, Osmanthus Green tea from China, Assam Green tea from India, Darjeeling Green tea from India, and Organic Green Tea from Sri Lanka. The resulting tea is pale gold in the cup and has a unique delicate, smooth flavor.

Green tea isn't the only tea with powerful health benefits. According to researchers at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, white tea is also full of powerful antioxidants and might have the strongest potential of all teas for fighting cancer, especially colon cancer.

White tea is a very rare, expensive connoisseurs tea that is only produced in China, mainly Fukien (Fujian) province, famous for its prized white teas. It is difficult to obtain as production is extremely limited. White tea comes from a rare strain of the tea plant and is harvested only a few days of the year. Once harvested, white tea is not oxidized or rolled, but simply withered and dried by steaming.

Researchers speculate that the processing of tea determines its cancer fighting potential. Because white tea goes through the least amount of processing, it theoretically has the most polyphenols (as some polyphenols are oxidized or destroyed during processing). These polyphenols have been linked to cancer prevention.

Chicken wings and veggies on a skewer.... Again, I'm back in the kitchen.....

This evening I made some sesame ginger chicken wings and veggies with pineapple on a skewer.

Since I didn't have a grill handy, I ended up baking/broiling them in the oven.

I must say it all tasted great to me (smile).

Next time, I'm going to stir fry the veggies and see how that tastes...

Cilla out..........

Star Trek Anyone?

I love Star Trek, but am more a fan of the original television series of James T. Kirk and his crew (Spock, Chekov, Sulu, Uhura, Dr. McCoy "Bones," Scotty).

Today we went to a Star Trek exhibition at the Aerospace Museum Of California. (A place my brother wanted to visit).

The price of $16.00 (adult)...... allowed you entrance to the Star Trek exhibit (see description below) and to tour the Museum.

If you are a first timer and/or a fan of the Star Trek series, then I'm sure you will like it.

A few years ago, I was able to visit "Star Trek - The Experience" at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. It closed in 2008

Note: For all you trekkie fans out there, the Star Trek convention will be in Las Vegas - August 5th thru the 8th. William Shatner (Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) will be there........ http://www.creationent.com/cal/stlv.htm

PJ and Scones

Instead of buying Scones from Panera Bread or LaBou, I wanted to learn to make my own. By making them myself, I can eat them when I want, and share them with friends when I have tea and tea gatherings.

I found a recipe online, and changed it up a bit to make it my own. It's blueberry scones. Along with blueberry, I also make chocolate chip and even just plain scones to have with some lemon curd.

I've shared the scones at a few gatherings recently, and the feedback I've received was very positive.

I can think of a few fundraisers that I'd like to participate in at my church, or donate to some organizations giving out free food. We will see.

I'm also trying to pair up the scones with a few types of tea, but I haven't fully decided.

The ones in this post, I made with whole wheat flour instead of regular flour. They taste fine to me.......

I am going to post the recipe in my tea society's next newsletter.

Detox

Detox: The process of removing toxins from the body.

Tomorrow, I will start Detoxing my body. I've always wanted to try, but didn't think I'd have the will power to keep it up. (I’ll be optimistic – smile)

I purchased this book (Half-Off) from Borders lat year, “Detox – The Process of Cleansing and Restoration” – by Sara Rose

See how long it’s taken me to take it off my bookshelf and start reading……. (smile)

It only has 5 Chapters (Not long at all)

Chapter 1 – Essential Detox
Chapter 2 – Food Detox
Chapter 3 – Body and Mind Detox
Chapter 4 – Detox in a Weekend
Chapter 5 – After You’ve Detoxed

The clock is ticking, time to start detoxing…… catch you later….

Have you Detoxed before?
