I wrote a blog a few years ago about my mommy and some of the things she did to inspire me. It's been 15 years since my Mom passed away, and I'm glad that the memories I have of her are still vividly alive even today.
I N S P I R E
(I)NTELLIGENT (N)URTURE (S)PIRITUAL (P)ERSEVERANCE (I)NTEGRITY (R)ESPECT (E)NCOURAGER
If anyone were to ask me who came to mind when I saw the word, inspire, it would have to be my MOM.
I was blessed to grow up in a two parent household, but my dad worked days and nights for the first 5 years of my life. Mom put her career on hold to stay at home to care for me and my other siblings.
My mom was very "INTELLIGENT" especially when it came to money. Each month, she was able to stretch the almighty dollar ($$) so that we had enough food, clothes, etc.
My mom provided excellent "NURTURING" when it came to teaching us our ABC's during the day, and reading daily devotions to us at night. She would later go back school and become a teacher.
My mom was very "SPIRITUAL" when it came to her relationship with God. If I was going through something or just needed to talk, she always took the time to listen. She taught me to have faith and believe in God's promises with regards to my life.
My mom showed "PERSEVERANCE" when she had to go through her cancer treatments. It would eventually rob her of her physical body, but her demeanor stayed positive through it all.
My mom showed great "INTEGRITY," when it came to teaching me how to be a "lady." Kinda goes hand in hand with the word respect below. I'm just grateful for her being an example for me to follow.
My mom had the "RESPECT" of her family, friends, and her community. She was the one to consult for advice on everyday stuff because people valued her opinion.
My mom was a definite "ENCOURAGER" No matter what was going on in her life, she always made time for me. She taught me to never give up on myself and that my opinion counts too.
When you see the word "I N S P I R E," who comes to mind, and why? (It can be anyone famous or not)
